With an auspiciously situated luxury can pick and choose among these festivities while enjoying the pinnacle of Southern Californian luxury at our esteemed resort.
Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of San Diego County’s 4th of July goings-on—starting off, naturally, with our very own neighborhood’s!
The 4th of July in Rancho Santa Fe
A stone’s throw from your elegant guest room, suite, or cottage here at the Inn, our history-steeped community of Rancho Santa Fe will be putting on its annual 4th of July parade and picnic: the perfect all-ages birthday party for the nation! The parade assembles at 12:15 PM in the parking lot of the R. Roger Rowe School gym—you’re welcome to join the floats, horseback riders, fire trucks, and other contingents—and then steps off at Avenida de Acacias and El Tordo, threading through the village via La Flecha and Paseo Delicias.
The patriotic processional comes followed up at 1:30 PM by a picnic—we’re supplying the ice cream and Popsicles!—soundtracked by live music from the Harmony Grove Band.
Independence Day Fun at the San Diego County Fair
The 2018 San Diego County Fair is currently cooking away at the Del Mar Fairgrounds just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, and the 4th of July marks the fair’s climactic finish. There’s full-day fun on Independence Day—farm animals, amusement rides, fairground fare, and more—culminating in a truly spectacular fireworks show at 9 PM. (Oh, and comedian and “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross will be taking aim at San Diego on the Corona Grandstand Stage at 9:30 PM as well…)
Other 4th of July Festivities in San Diego County
A half-hour or so to the northwest of us on the transfixing Pacific shore, Oceanside throws its Independence Day Parade at 10 AM on June 30th, and puts on a holiday fireworks show the evening of July 3rd.
In San Diego proper meanwhile—also a super-convenient drive from the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe—you’ve got the very biggest pyrotechnics show in the county to enjoy courtesy of the famous Big Bay Boom, which sees fireworks launch from a spaced-out fleet of barges along the San Diego waterfront at 9 PM on the 4th. Another beloved Independence Day tradition in the city is the old-fashioned 4th of July party that goes down at Old Town State Historic Park during the day: a good place to brush up on your cherry-pit-spitting skills.
The island of Coronado has its own jampacked Independence Day party, with a well-attended parade along Orange Avenue beginning at 10 AM, the Crown City Classic 4th of July Race (5k and 12k), family activities and music at Spreckels Park, and an impressive round of fireworks above Glorietta Bay at 9 PM.
